Homework in the new year!
Yay! I just finished 5 pages of notes on the Renaissance and the Age of Exploration. Did you know that the Americas were named for Amerigo Vespucci b/c he was the first one to realize it wasn't India that they were all exploring. He wrote it down somewhere a cartographer got ahold of it and named the giant lump the was supposed to be South America, America in honor of him. Yup, and Brazil was named that because of the spanish word for brazier b/c a tree along the Amazon had wood the color of burning charcoal. And some explorer named Balboa was the first to find the Pacific and claimed the entire thing for Spain. Those crazy europeans! lol
